Bukit Batok Nature Park

Bukit Batok Nature Park

Bukit Batok Nature Park is unlike any normal park in Singapore. Rather then a neighborhood Park, think of it like a reservoir park without the reservoir segment.

Just off Bukit Timah Hill, Bukit Batok nature park boasts a trekking route(but not off road) and a route for leisure joggers.
Off hand, what you can expect to see here is the following
A quarry(if I am not wrong)
WWII memorial
which in itself is a feat for a park.

No doubt, the quarry is a beautiful place which reminds me of Little Guilin cliffs.
Bukit Batok nature Park also offers normal park amenities such as toilets, open spaces for picnics, shelters etc. So if you are just looking for a place to jog, have a picnic or just having the desire to stroll with your partner, do not be daunted by the trekking routes and open paved roads for leisure walking are also available.

For those who never been before, you will be surprised these things exists in Singapore( I know I sound like a newbie because I am!)
Another attraction is the WWII memorial
According to the NPARKS website
"During World War II, the Japanese selected the Lorong Sesuai site as a memorial for the soldiers who died. All that remains are two pillars and 120 concrete steps leading up to a transmission tower. A memorial plaque lies at the foot of the stairs to inform visitors of the significance and meaning of the location."

Another picture below- An open book made of stone, with printed information
More information of the memorial can be found on the board put up at the bottom of the stairs.
At Bukit Batok nature park, you can expect to have quite a long walk, because it boasts both a trekking trail which you can link to a normal jogging trail.
If you havent been there, its worth a try.
