Seletar Area

Piccadilly

Seletar/Piccadilly area has always been an area which I have wanted to document. Have been here countless times however, till now, did not record it in the blog. So today, decided to take lots of photos and put it in the blog so that it will be recorded before redevelopments happen. Already, some redevelopment has reached this place.

Enterance to Piccadilly from Jalan Kayu

From Jalan Kayu, the entrance to Piccadilly is marked by an old gate which  looks like this. Past this gate is an old Singapore.

Road map

As an area which is yet to be touched by development, the roads here are simple. Piccadilly its its main street. It is not called Piccadilly Road but just a Piccadilly.

Quiet Road: Piccadilly. It is the main road in this district though

Traditional Canteen: Auntie did not let us take photo inside

This canteen at Seletar seems like a popular areas for workers nearby in the morning and lunch, as cars crowd this area for food. While I a able to go inside, I am however asked not to take any photos. The placed is closed in the late afternoon.

Subsequently, from Piccadilly, we walked northwards on Seletar Areospace Drive till we reach the old shore line of Singapore. The road to the tip of Seletar Areospace Drive is cordoned off. But we could still walk from the side.

The pavement at the side allowed us to  walk to the edge. Coordinates at (1.418313, 103.876518).
From there, we  could see Pulau Punggol Barat. As Pulau Punggol Barat is an artificial island, we can assume that the tip of Seletar Areospace drive constitute the original shoreline of Singapore.
