UBIN SERIES 1: Pulau Ubin

Taxi Service at Pulau Ubin

As news came  out that yet another bicycle shop has ceased operations in Pulau Ubin, thought its time to document Pulau Ubin before it changes too much. Afterall, even though there is much conservation efforts on Pulau Ubin, it does not mean it will not change.

Going to Pulau Ubin first involves getting to Changi Point Jetty at Changi Village. Itself it is a long way to get there.

The cost for the boat ride per way was supposed to be $3/pax but due to the COVID situation prices were increased to $4.

Pulau Ubin has several activities including Chek Jawa, 2 campsites and  a Mountain Bike Trail.

Finally, we arrived in Pulau Ubin. We took a taxi today to Chek Jawa from the jetty. Each way cost $12 for a whole van.

Welcome!

Chek Jawa is a Mangroove area in Singapore. At low tide, one can experience seeing mudskippers, crabs and other wildlife. In the past, I dont recall seeing monkeys. But today, many monkeys were spotted behaving aggressively. People must have been feeding them.

Finally, after Chek Jawa, with another $12 at hand, we called for an Ubin taxi to Teck Seng  Place (a museum Kampong house and finally we walked the town centre)

Pulau Ubin is changing rapidly and above is simply some sights of Pulau Ubin in 2020.

Here below, are some of the photos below which I took in 2016 when a group of friends and  myself went to Pulau Ubin!

Overall, camping at Pulau Ubin in 2016 made me never want to camp at Pulau Ubin again. There is  no sea breeze, if tent is closed it is too hot. if the tent is opened then there will be mosquitos. In my opinion it would be better to just spend a day home and  sleep at home as camping require some sort of temperate climate for it to be enjoyable.

Seeing Singapore Sooner than Never.
