Bukit Chermin/Keppel Club and Berlayar Creek

Bukit Chermin area is another heritage area which I would like to share in the blog because by end of 2021, some developments sitting in this area like Keppel Club will be taken back by the government. As this place in Singapore is posited to see large scale changes, I would like to document this area.

At the end of Bukit Chermin Road lies a slip road leading to colonial bungalows of Bukit Chermin and Keppel Club.

Notably, I tried to find the largest bungalow 30 Bukit Chermin which was said to have perhaps housed the Singapore Port Master (Recall that this house is overlooking Keppel Harbour which is the main Singapore's Harbour). The house can be seen from Bukit Chermin broadwalk but I could not find the road leading to this house.

Keppel Club itself is a golf club of sorts having a drive range and a pretty large golf course. It also houses a few restaurants of which one of them is sea facing overlooking Berlayar Creek. It is quite sad that this place will have to go soon. This place looks totally next to unreclaimed land and I loved it a lot because you can see the natural entrance to the creek.

From the above maps, we can see the sprawling grounds of Keppel Club with its golf course to its left (all the greens below Telok Blangah MRT) and sadly these will have to go by the end of 2021.

One of the few natural creek openings, as seen from the Navionics Nautical chart right in front of Keppel Club. The green area shows area which waters cover and uncover with tide.

Lastly, here is a picture and video of Berlayar shallows taken from Bukit Charmin Broadwalk.

Lastly, a sunset timelapse video near the mouth of Berlayar Creek mouth. Enjoy!
