By now, we would have known, Old Woodlands Town is going to go :( Yet another gem gonna make way for development. So today, I decided to go to Old Woodlands Town to capture it before it makes way for development completely. Already, many shops and units have already vacated this area.
Situated beside Woodlands train checkpoint, Old Woodlands town spans 6 blocks from Blk 1A to Blk 6A. Previously a bustling area in the mid 1990's the town had started to lose its vitality with the rise of Woodlands center at Woodlands MRT!
What do we have at Old Woodlands Town? Apart from what I heard is super duper good food, we have a huge 2 story Sheng Siong outlet, Vacated flats, cars parked in the old Woodlands Bus interchange, Woodlands Point shopping mall with an interior like Admiralty Point, old Shaw Woodlands Cinema as well as vacated shops!
Enjoy the pics!

Plenty of prohibitive message in this ulu place in Blk 6A. Must be alot of people sleep here.
Although I diden't see any camera!
Yet another old school design on Blk 6A, with the signature toilet sign dotting the building with the round chair for people to seat and chat with their buddy
Within Blk 1A. these flats have been Enbloc by the government (I think) Apparently based on notices pasted on these flats, they were taken over by the government in 2012. So these flats have been left here for the last 5 years! (Wow!) With colourful pillars and wide corridors, surely such a size for a common space is something rare these days! Talk about architecture to promote kampong like interaction!
View of Blk 5A taken from the Hawker center in Blk 4A Where I think the old Oriental Emporium one stood. It is said that on the second level till recently, Shop In filled that space. Tried to go up to level 2 of Blk 5A but found that all staircase was gated and bolted. The only way to access was thru a very old lift which I was initially pretty afraid to take in case it broke down halfway! Luckily it did not!
And last but not least, here we have it, the old Shaw Woodlands theater! Once a bustling theater, it has since closed its shutters This building, as big as Woodlands Point have since become a closed area where people would just sit outside the fence to chit chat with their friends
To wrap it up, here is a map taken from Google maps(2017) on our legendary 6 blocks in Old Woodlands Center! If you are wondering where the Old Shaw Woodlands Cinema is, it is next to the shopping mall Woodlands Point.
Once a bustling border city with a bus interchange, Old Woodlands Town despite continuing to be a border town has lost its ability to attract visitors from staying and hanging around. What remains is only a handful of shops, big businesses like Sheng Siong and Macs and a famous Hawker Center. All also slated to go by this year (2017) as the entire town is slated for redevelopment and urban rejuvenation.
Quick! Visit the town before it closes!
