Defu Industrial Estate

Defu Industrial Estate
Recently, my company took out a space at Defu Industrial Estate which sparked my interest on whats this place about. A quick google referred me to the HDB site stating that it was built between 1980 and 1985. (https://hdb.gov.sg/cs/Satellite?c=Page&cid=1383802432238&pagename=InfoWEB%2FPage%2FArticleDetailPage&rendermode=preview)

Apparently this place is slated to be redeveloped in 2 years time (2020) so it was definitely worth a visit!

A walk around Defu would suggest a slightly dated industrial place (based on Singapore's standards). A wave of nostalgia swept through me as I walked around this place. This place hosts several factories, many dealing with food. There are even Chicken farms here as well as the Trans Cab Service Building (Taxi Company).

Chicken Farm! Look at the kind of truck they use to transport live chickens!

Wild dogs along the road in Defu next to the factories. Rustic!

There is a sense of charm around her in Defu Industrial Estate with wild dogs roaming the roads and workers cycling in to their factories on their bicycles. There is even an old bus stop now unseen elsewhere in Singapore!

Super old school designed bus stop. When was the last I saw this?

Last but not least let me put a screen shot of the google map here to show the layout before it is being redeveloped!
